£10 Dickens note - Use before August!
#1
Just a reminder that the £10 with Charles Dickens will no longer be leagal tender after 31st July. The new style £10 note with a portrait of Charles Darwin and enhanced security features will remain in circulation.
First I new of this was when I spotted it in a paper at the weekend.

Don't worry though, 'cos even tender which hasn't been legal for years will be accepted by most banks, and if the worst comes to the worst, all previously legal tender will still be accepted by the Bank Of England itself (although you'll have to go to the Threadneedle St branch in London ).

Exactly MarkO - the "promise to pay" is good for all time. Sadly you can no longer exchange your notes for gold (that stopped in 1931!) as the issue of banknotes is now backed by securities rather than gold.
All old Bank of England notes can be exchanged at the Bank of England by taking them in person, or sending them to:
