Conservatory on Listed "B" type building
#1
Hello,
Does anyone know about building /planning permission? We are completing on a listed building, type "B" 4 weeks today. At the back of the house there has been an extension already and we are hoping to have a conservatory fitted too. Do we need planning permission and if so, are we likely to get it?
Cheers

You will need listed building consent and the success will depend on why it is listed. I would speak to a planning consultant about owning a listed building, BEFORE you exchange contracts. For almost any work, you must use English Heritage approved contractors and these boys don't come cheap.

Hi,
Thanks for that. But we're stuck with buying it...the house is in Scotland and we've agreed the price so you legal have to buy it now (much better system up there). There's no way it would stop us from buying the house. I just wondered what chances we had of getting a conservatory on it. It doesn't really matter if it is not possible.
Cheers.
