Question

Those of you who live in the North West, which is the cheapest option to get to France by car (heading to St Tropez)?

More specifically I'm talking about ferry crossings.

Dover to Calais?

Hull to Zeebrugge?

I'm wanting to do the trip from the Wirral to St Tropez in as short a time as possible.

Andy.

dont think the Ferries run from the Wirral

not sure really, we always drive down to Dover, and ferry over to Calais, then a decent (albeit long) drive down to the south, only Paris is a pain

Hull-Zeebrugge is lovely: a cabin, good food, relaxing, not too long a drive from you, you can drink the evening away, and VERY, VERY expensive!!:
Dover-Calais is less expensivem, but not cheap. There was a post on here not long ago from a guy who'd found the web address for the P&O "bucket shop" and was able to travel at half the normal price.

On the journey, avoid Paris by taking the A26, all the way as far as it goes, then A5, A6, then for St Trop: Route Napoleon, the N75, for lovely scenery and excellent twisties.

Ive never paid more than 20 quid for Dover to Calais crossing on P & O, and always get 3 bottles of wine free too

Thanks for the info guys!

If anybody knows of any special deals or discounts for a crossing on or around the 25th July I'd be very interested.

There are two of us making the trip and I'll be taking my car.

If you want speed then surely the chunnel is your best bet Andy? Cheap enough too, we paid £70 for one car at Easter (prebooked), then your best off hitting the peage and getting your head down.

Hiya Barry,

The Chunnel takes you into Paris doesn't it? I've been advised to steer clear of Paris as it supposedly take ages to get to the St Tropez area from Paris.
