We're currently considering various wedding locations in the Surrey area.

I wondered whether you got married or have been to a good wedding location in Surrey.

Ideally we are looking for somewhere where we can get married and have a recpetion.

Currently Painshill Park is top of the list of the few places we are considering, although we want to keep our options open until we place a deposit down!!

Opinions good or bad are welcome!

I got married three weeks ago Andy, and we had our reception in the Queenstand at Epsom Downs Racecourse. Fabulous view over the Downs and over London, and reasonably priced too.

We also considered Kingswood Golf Club also I've been to a few receptions there and would say that's a good'un too.

Would recommend you look at both locations.

Good luck.

Monkey Island, near Maidenhead
Berystede, Ascot
Penny Hill Park - Bagshot
or
Foxhills Country Club - Chertsey
or
have you considered something different like one of the Theme parks - went to a party once at the Reptile House at London Zoo I know not everyones cup but it was a great venue for those that wanted something different and a tour.

Andy,

I'm getting married here at the end of November. It's amazing, and each of the 22 bedrooms is unique. We're hiring it exclusively and all in it's costing us about £13k. That may sound a lot, but you only get married once (hopefully!)

Check it out. I live just round the corner from there!

SD, nice choice! We had our wedding night in the Leeds suite - bloody wonderful! The wife wants to go back for each anniversary, if not more often!

We got married at Leatherhead Registry Office, not the world's greatest but we were pushed for time and I've seen far worse places.

Brendan,

Ah yes, Leatherhead Registry office. I was up there a couple of weeks ago getting my certificate (or certified ) for marriage. Really quite nice actually and the grounds are lovely. I should really get married there and get a new car with the money I'd save.

Then you could skip the reception and go up and down the Mickleham bends instead.

Simon.

How spooky,
Me and the other half have decided to tie the knot and are looking for nice places in Essex (cue the humour)

I suggested blowing Essex off (again there's room for a joke here) and going back to one of the first places we went as a couple.

It's really nice, good luck

DJ,

That's the first place we looked at but unfortunately couldn't get the dates we wanted. Lovely place though...

Simon, agree the grounds are great, our best wedding photo is us walking through the rose, um, whatchacallit - arch, arbour? I'd post it here if someone shows me a working uploader.

Nutfield Priory... mmmmm...

Andy

I got married at Savill Court at Englefield Green near Egham last year. They have a number of rooms you can hire, but we went for the conservatory which is a big glass dome on the edge of the building. Great venue!

Also have a look at Great Fosters which is also near Egham. I am going to a wedding there in a couple of weeks and it is supposed to be an excellent place.

Lastly we considered the place in the middle of Richmond park - can't remember the name but it is pretty unique. Only problem is they don't have any rooms that you or the guests can stay over in.

Also can recommend a good photographer for that area. Let me know if you need to know any more.

Before you start looking or booking have a clear idea how many people you'll be inviting/ expecting. Lots of places have minimum & maximum numbers. And we thought a small wedding would be keeping it simple...

Also mention to your dear lady that the lazy ******* at wedding dress shops insist on around 16 weeks to get the frock ready...

Look at Wentworth Golf Club - they have rooms for smaller and larger weddings and its very nice, and not nearly as expensive as you would think.

We are getting married there next Feb.

At this stage you really should be focusing on the stag night.

Andy- I was best man at a do at the Thatches, its on the same road as Bell & Colville, a few miles towards Bookham.
Great place, the registrar did her bit there, then we had nice photos in the grounds, nice meal and kipped over.
