German Truck Registrations
#1
I recently had a German registered truck run into the side of PTMW! - theres a post somewhere - and we swopped details, took photos etc.
The registration mark on the rear of the trailer differs to that of the cab at the front
I was speaking to a German insurance company and apparently that is legal over there
Question is, I know its illegal over here, does not the same law apply for visiting German trucks? Or do they have to register the cab & the trailer separately?
Just interested & possbily a watch out for anyone unfortunate enough to have an incident with a German artic...

Foreign trucks have to apply the same rules as would be applicable in their own Country, so in Germany where in simple terms the trailer is considered as a seperate vehicle to the tractor unit, then that is perfectly legal here.
It really is not that much different to the trailer of a rig here requiring its own plating certificate, as I am pretty sure that in some countries the licence plate does act as their certificate of roadworthiness.
