How many passed first time ??
#7
I passed 1st time after 7 lessons with I think it was 4 minors! Had my first crash 5 months after where I totalled my car, a 3 series BMW, a police car and a phone box (in one swift motion)... luckily no-one was seriously hurt apart from my insurance and my pockets... haven't had a bump since then.
You're not a proper driver till you've had your first proper crash!!!!

10 lessons, passed first time with no minor faults.
Crashed my parents' car 3 months later with a forward entry into hedge and tree, flip round and backwards entry, bounce onto high verge sideways, double roll pirouette and a sliding roof finish.

passed second time after giving my instructor the sack.
He drove me back after the first fail hitting the kerb as he left the test center and driving like a total loon for the next ten minutes.
I wouldnt have minded too much but you had to be a bleedin perfectionist to get any word of a praise from him.
he told me i wouldnt pass next time either so i went for the first cancellation i could get and spent several hours driving round with my sister who was told (politely) to just sit there and say nothing and let me practice then sailed through.
passing first time is no indication whatsoever of ability my first time fail was down to one single error of hesitancy to go through an amber light and stopping just over the white line.
I knew i had failed as soon as it happened only yards from the test centre.
my sister passed first time and i used to have to put the car on and off our driveway for her fo months afterwards

Passed car 1st time at 18 after 9 lessons.
I asked for a short notice test and got one. I was informed of it by post an hour before it was scheduled. After some franctic running around I managed to get the use of a neighbours car (my intructor was out on a lesson)and realised on the way to the test I hadn't practised my emergency stop. Practiced and after my neighbour had removed his head from the dashboard went on to pass in fine style.
Bike test passed after second attempt- failed first time when bike broke down 2 mins away from end of test!

Car 1 - 4 lessons in total - 1st time - 17
(Helped that it was S. Ireland where at the time you could drive on your own @ 17 - so had been for ages)
Car 2 - 2 lessons in total - 1st time - 23
(UK test & the lessons were to "iron out" any "experience" faults )
Bike - Other than CBT, no lessons - 1st time - 23

Passed first time but I felt rather lucky as I was cr@p.
The test involved driving around some country lanes and I hardly meet any other traffic.
Took another 3 months afterwards before I thought my driving was OK, not good but just OK.
