Getting fed up of living in this country so I think I'm gonna chip off for 6 months or so & avoid the crappy UK winter. Anyone got any reccomendations of where to go? Gotta be somewhere cheap to live & have plenty of jobs & decent weather.
Cheers

Australia is hot and cheap - the current exchange rate is about $1 = 40p or so.
As for jobs - what are you after?
Go for a 12 month stint on a working holiday visa, though you can only work for 3 months out of that.
If you do want to work then you will have to arrange sponsorship and such - there is a LOT of research you need to do into that.
Visit here for details on all visas.
Cheers,
Michelle.
PS - becoming a referee can earn you a few dollars at the weekend, the only levy you pay is towards the Referee's Association plus the initial joining fee of $60.
Current fees are $38-$45 for a senior game and there is a potential of $200 a weekend if you are prepared to do several games.
The only problems encountered are councils closing grounds due to rain and the limited season.
Hope this helps.

I would say pretty much anywhere southern hemisphere basically. Check out the weather sites for weather info in the months you intend to go, as there are rainy seasons in some places! Not the type of place you want to go to, I'd guess
Jobs is another matter, as most of the countries we're talking about are poor (except Australia / NZ and a few others) and you would not make much money. I think the best would be to save up a little and go to a place that's really cheap so you can live there for a long time without having to worry about making money.

You could try moving up North
Chelle, have been looking at Oz & NZ actually, workwise: Ideally production engineering but TBH I don't really care as long as it gives me enough $$ to play & plenty of spare time to lounge about lol
What sort of price is a flat/room to rent?
Claudius, that's another option mate. i have about £3k saved at the mo but not sure how long that'd last me.
Tempted by Thailand too as it's very cheap & I have family in Pattaya but I think the job idea would be a no-go.

Jay, where are you looking to locate to? I can then get a few local rags for those suburban areas and get you some pricing.
There is a list of trades and such on the site whereby you can gain extra points for immigration purposes.

Sorry guys but Iraq is not an option, just bought a holiday home there
Chelle, TBH I have no idea where I want to go lol. Fancy something close to the beach so I can do some kite surfing. Only prob I can see with Aus is only being able to work 3months, but I suppose that'd give me 3months of lounging about

Try Fiji or Samoa as a very alternative idea to Aus and NZ. Weather is same, but not sure about the job situation or Visa's. Mate of mine went for 6 months to Fiji. Loved it but he is a fully qualified PADI instructor and worked for a hotel complex. But worth a scope out mate
