Kraft to reduce food portions - WTF?

Pure prejudice. I don't have any proof that I'll grow another arm if I eat food that's been grown after being altered in a lab, but then again I havn't seen any proof that I won't. So, I have two choices, eat it and find out or reject it and don't.

What is it with Americans?
Kraft Foods are apparently reducing food portions under fears they may be sued for causing obesity?????
Errm. Obese people on the whole (although obviously there are the medical cases) EAT TOO MUCH. Who's fault is that? Not rocket science is it.
Can we start suing car manufacturers if we get caught speeding?
Brewers for getting drunk?
Scoobynet for misuse of time?
Where is it gonna end?
How long will it be before burgers get warning stickers similar to cigarettes? "Burgers make you fat" (but taste great )

Well...portions in the good old USofA are way too big anyway, I think it's probably a good thing when all's said and done. It's not like anyone will starve on the 'smaller' portions. Kinda like the 'supersize' portions in the UK..you have a choice about whether to order it or not, if the 'supersize' was the standard size (which our supersize is equivalent to in USA) then the willpower test is much harder.
Imagine if you had a normal sized engine in your car?

OTOH I heard that the amount of calories in a portion of MD fries has gone up by something like 400% since they were first launched. maybe having smaller portions has some sense to it?

Typical stupid yank solution!!! make the portions smaller so the bat fastard doesn't eat as much, then bat fastard eats 2 portions instead of one, which probaly results in eating more tan he would have done if they left the portion size alone in the first place! what a stupid solution.

I saw something on the telly that summed it up nicely.
It was a fat woman from the USA, who complained so much that they brought in a fat discrimination law. I believe that *in essence* it's a good thing, but it was her last statement that summed it all up:
"I tried dieting, but I coundn't loose weight. So it's easier to change the government and laws than loose those extra pounds"
Basically, she was to ****ing lazy to go on a diet, so she decided to change the law instead to 'favor' fat people.. e.g. airlines / cinema's have to have extra-large seats, people can't discrimate against their lifestyle..
What gets me is what the hell is the doctor to do now, when the people have heart-attacks from being overweight? They can't tell them to stop eating or they'll die, because of the new law against fat-discrimination..
and I thought this country was bad...

but if the sizes are reduced, will the price be reduced proportionally??
If anything prices will go up as they will have to change recipes, the machine set ups in their factories, buy different packaging etc...

Whatever the reasons/effects, it's a shrewd move by Kraft.
1. They absolve themselves from the American compensation culture.
2. They're seen as "good guys" for "caring" about Americans' health.
3. Greedy people will buy more to compensate for smaller packs.
Give the marketing guys at Kraft(y) a round of applause i say!
