Just seen an article on Sky News about poor Prince William and how he hates being in the public eye so much. The commentator said the prince once said felt like he had a life sentence with no chance of parole.
Oh dear - my heart bleeds for him - his life must just be so hard!!!
Don't even get me started on his father ....
Honestly is there any wonder the respect for the so called Royals is on the decline.
Sorry just had to get that off my chest.
Regards,

Hard life having half the nations chicks chasing after you for no reason other than the fact you are single, a prince, rich and tagged on at the end - relativly attractive!
Hard life having millions in the bank and shed loads of palaces, etc.
Hard life knowing you can do pretty much whatever you want in life and experience the fruits in life that others have to work for.
As you can see I sympathise with *****

Walk in his shoes then you may be able to comment. He knows no different and I expect it gets tiresome being followed and your every move commented on.
Look at last week. He did a slightly rash overtaking manouvre......something I'm sure we've all done. Except......when he does it it's front page news.

William.................. If only the press could print the stories.
Ok . he doesnt know any different. And some could say his life isnt that rosy. But doesnt give him the excuse to be a complete tosser that he is.

If he doesnt want it then
GIVE IT ALL UP!
Go on the TV, in the papers saying that hes decided to give up his title, and all the things (good and bad) that brings, that he never wants to be king. That hes going to go to Africa and become a missionary.
I only have time for 1 Royal ,Prince Charles, simply because he does a shed load more charity work than any of the other Royals.

They all do a lot of charity work, so I think that's unfair - both to the other royals, and to Charles.
As for William, the guy's in an tricky position. Through no choice of his own, he's brought up in a weird, in-bred, publicised, vilified family. Whatever he does he'll get criticised for it publicly by somebody. Yet the compensation is that he's got stacks of cash, and women throwing themselves at his feet.
Sounds to me like his life has good points and bad points - a bit like the rest of us. Good luck to him, I say.

I feel sorry for anyone who lost their mother at such an early age. Even if he's as bad as people make out.
Hang the Monarchy... sell bits of the rope to the stupid American tourists and then we get all the same tourists without the 'overhead costs' of supporting a bunch of spongers...
That has always been my answer to the fools who say the royals bring us tourism... can you imagine how popular an attraction the gallows on Highgate hill would be!
Fantastic for our economy...

There's a lot of jealousy and hypocracy flying about here.
How many of us here earn a decent wage, have a nice car etc. but we ALL still complain about stress at work etc. There are much poorer people out there that would say the same about you!. It's all relative.
Willian was BORN into the royal family, he didn't choose to and it just so happens that he doesn't like being in the public eye so much. Fair do's, pop stars etc complain about it yet they CHOOSE the public life. I also feel a little sympathy for will/harry as their whole life has pretty much been mapped out for them. We all get to do whatever we want in life (if we can make it happen), they can't.
I don't have a great deal of sympathy for them but they are human beings who don't have much choice what life they lead so I don't feel the right to slag people like wills/harry off. They're young and just expressing how they feel. The queen and Charles however are older and have more 'power' to change things. Regardless, it's US, as the British public who keep them there. If you want change then vote for some republican party.
I don't particularly agree with the SYSTEM we are all under so slag the system off, but the people are just that, people.

Of course they do lots of charity work - they've got the bleeding time to haven't they? Easy to do when you don't have to work for a living and you're frittering away taxpayers money.
As for those on here actually supporting William - like someone else said if he genuinely wanted to drop out he could, but he doesn't - he just sits there and moans 'Oh poor me'.
I just wish everyone in the UK could have a life as tough as his ;-)

I said Quote:"I feel sorry for anyone who lost their mother at such an early age. Even if he's as bad as people make out"
The fact I'm a republican by nature and totally against the very existance of any type of monarchy in no way lessens my sympathy for someone who's mother died very publicly when he was still a very young boy. So I do feel that "poor poor William" is appropriate in that context.

Yeah I guess you're right and if he ever gets into trouble with the law he'll always get let off as he can genuinely claim he comes from a broken home!!

Leave him alone.
I don't see any reason to launch a scathing attack on someone you have never met and who has never done you or anyone else any harm based soley on what you have read in whatever tat newspaper you have read.
The grass is always greener...

I think you'll find that these views have been exporessed throughout all the media for several years now so it's not just the reaction of one tabloid newspaper.
Leave him alone you say - I just think that when there are people on the poverty line up and down the country, people who can't get a job etc. etc. it's a bit rich for someone like him to be publically complaining how hard done to he is.

So we can only complain about our lives if we're dead poor then?
He's not 'publicly' complaining as such as it's impossible for him to privately complain about stuff as everything he says may end up in the news. We're lucky in that we don't have all our words picked up on and plastered all over the tabloids.
As far as I see it, William isn't exactly 'complaining' and moaning all the time. He's merely stated that he's not exactly happy about his situation but will continue as it's his 'duty'. Whether you agree or not with the system, it's a reasonably dignified stance to take.

Dracoro,
Firstly thanks for correcting my spelling of the word publicly - I can't work out why I spelt it like that - most unlike me. We need a thread about poor grammar and spelling - oh we've had one already - oh well ....
OK on to William. No I don't think you can only complain about life if you're poor etc., but there is one huge difference between those caught in the poverty trap and our poor hard done to William and that is the former can generally not do an awful lot about their situation whereas William if he really really wanted to could.
As stated elsewhere in this thread if he really wanted to drop out of the royals and do what he wanted to do he could, but no, instead he just moans about it to any member of the media who'll give him a soundbite.

P.S. Hope the spelling's OK in this one ;-)

tiggers - hadn't noticed the spelling actually
I was highlighting the word in the sense that whatever the royals say is public given it's hard to say anything otherwise!
I agree it'd be a bit rich if he were to complain all the time. However I don't think this is the case, he pretty much keeps shtum most the time.
Hard to say what we'd all do in his position though. He's got a lot of pressure from the public, the media , the politicians, his family, friends, the 'establishment' etc. regarding what he should do in life. There are many here that wouldn't do stuff if it would upset family and friends (personally couldn't give a monkeys what the press or establishment etc. thinks though). He 'can' do what he wants and has the choices although he's gonna get slated whatever he does - not an enviable position to be in.

I'm not convinced he has complained at all, afterall we only have the press' word on the matter. He won't give them an interview, so they report it as "he is a private person" and then somewhere along the line that become "he isn't happy with his lot"..... and then someone posts it on scoobynet for public disection.
Whatever he may have said in private it isn't any of our business. There is always someone worse off than ourselves, but that doesn't stop us publically moaning on here about it does it!

Most of the adverse comments sound as though they are sparked by jealousy. Give the poor lad a chance, he is still in his formative years and is well aware of his future duty to the State.
The Queen has had a pretty blameless reign and has shown an outstanding example to the Country.
We should not forget that the Queen still has the right to prorogue Parliament should they get too far above themselves. That is one power that Mr B Liar has not yet been able to remove from her, thank goodness.
