Are Autoglass/ RAC Glass places rip-offs in general?

Some ****** smashed the small quarterlight window on the rear passenger door on my Merc E-class last night - didn't take anything so must have been rumbled.....
Anyway, phoned RAC for quote on new bit of glass - £180 for a bit of glass about 1 ft x 1/2 ft - am I being ripped off????
Guy gave me a load of spiel about how it was toughened and thick blah de blah.....
I was expecting more like £30 tops :-)

there was somewhere that sells european car parts (website) that someone here pointed me to after someone broke the glass in my dads E-class merc. merc wanted 150 for a new piece of glass, the site had it for 30 quid. though my dad had already paid the merc dealer.
