OK - not usually a militant type, but this has absolutely made my blood boil!! Most of us on here have gone over the speed limit on occasion and if we get caught then fair enough - but this is INSANE!!! There's a link on the bottom of the page where you can click to sign a petition to supprt the poor bloke.
AMBULANCE MAN IN COURT
An ambulance driver, charged with speeding when he was delivering a life-saving organ transplant, finds out today when his trial will begin.
Grantham magistrates are fixing a date for Mike Ferguson, who was caught allegedly doing 104mph in an official car, with blue lights flashing.
He was travelling from St James's Hospital in Leeds to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge in the early hours of January 16 when he was flashed by two speed cameras.
The 56-year-old, who has an unblemished record of more than 30 years' service, was spotted on the A1.
Offers of help
The road has a 70mph limit and he was charged with speeding by Lincolnshire Police.
He has been overwhelmed by the show of support he has received since the case became public.
A number of transplant patients have offered to pay his costs and any fine because of their outrage that he was facing legal action.
He said: "I have had thousands of letters, emails, postcards and verbal messages of support from all over the world, including Australia, Spain and Gibraltar.
'Hard work'
"People have said they cannot understand why someone in an emergency service is being prosecuted for doing his job.
"I have been overwhelmed by the messages of support and I would like to thank everyone who has taken the trouble to contact me.
"Dealing with this has been hard work but I will see it though."
His union, the GMB, say an online petition has received 1,500 messages of support for Mr Ferguson in the past few days.
The union has written to Home Secretary David Blunkett and Health Secretary Alan Milburn urging them to intervene.

btt - Don't usually get riled, but this one has really wound me up. Am sure if I was on my way to hospital with some horrid ailment I'd really appreciate the ambulance being pulled by the local plod...
As Graham Norton pointed out, if they start pulling emergency vehilces for speeding where will it end...? "Ello sonny - where's the fire then?"

What's going on here, we'll have no seriousness around here, this is a Muppet forum.
I did add my name to the petition though
Edited to verify that this was in Muppets when I replied -

Was discussed on NSR a few weeks ago at length DBW, fyi. At first i was sceptical, but having seen all the facts, i agree that it does appear that Lincolnshire Police are being very petty minded. I'd have thought that if all the facts are as they have been stated, and not exaggerated, then no sane magistrate would dare sentence him. Well, at least that's what i'd like to think at any rate. He finds out today when the court case begins.
