Mr Turner has contacted MPs about his new design and has already received the backing of Lord Ahmed of Rotherham, who called it a "fantastic idea [for] celebrating diversity of the modern United Kingdom".

What a complete and utter pratt. Out of interest, which ethnic group is supposed to be blue? 
I always thought the Union Flag was supposed to be made up of the old Welsh flag, the Saltire, and the George Cross - to represent the nations that make up the union. Clearly this Turner guy has completely missed the point, and is totally crackers.
It'll never happen, though. I mean, the Scots have spent something like 5 years debating the exact tone of blue used in the 'official' version of the Saltire. If it takes 'em that long to do that, it'll be another 400 years of debate before anyone decides on whether to change the union flag or not.

I find this unbelievable the flag of our nation does not indicate the race. creed or colour of the people living here but this Mr Turner wants to make it do so.
