I am looking at taking the family down to the south of france for 10 days.
Would like a villa with a pool & access to local stuff of interest for kids.
Nice area, restaurants, attractions etc etc
Any recommendations on where to go & who to book through ?

Cheers

Ro.

Question

Depends where in the South you want to go. Biarritz+St Jean De Luz are nice(sea), as is Pau, the Dordogne region (Perigord too many brits for my liking though), Orange, the Camargue, Hyers the Haute Alps etc etc. What kind of thing are you looking for and I may be able to advise a region and possibly some nice gites.

Have used French Life a few times. Had excellent service from them. Take a look at Chez Nous as well.

nacro - just a nice 10 days close to quiet beaches with stuff to do to keep the kids interested. Not too touristy with access to good shops, restaurants etc. nothing too commercial.
That sort of thing

My parents own a mobile home down just outside St Tropez. Lovely area, sure there are some villas that a way, problem is that you will probably pay loads for one. Definatly the place to go to see the celebs, and go shopping and partying.

If you want to be close to beaches try the St Jean De Luz or Henday area (nr Biarritz)- a lot cheaper than St Tropez but then again you will be on the atlantic coast which is not as nice as the med in my opinion. Still you can body board, surf etc and the beaches are much bigger and less crowded. Plus its only 30mins to Spain which could add another dimension to your holiday. I can't advise as to villas but the area is very nice. You can also get a ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao and Plymouth to Santander which cuts out a lot of the driving.
