Genoa is bleedin' miles from Rome ! Padova is maybe not quite so far but there are better airports for both destinations.
Ryanair fly to Genoa, Ryanair also fly to Pisa, Venice and Bologna. Ciampino is on the south side of Rome so if you're wanting to reach the north end of Italy then it's probably the wrong place to fly to.
Easyjet also fly to Ciampino.
Verona is also a close airport.
From the North end of Rome to Ciampino it's maybe 30 mins or so round on the M'way.
You coul dalso consider flying to Nice as it's just over the border in France - cheap flights from Easyjet also.

Sorry didnt make that clear, only flying to a Rome airport if going to Rome. Wont be flying to Rome if off to Padova or Genoa, basically looking for the closest airports to either place.
