What a waste of time
Rave Review : Haddock Heaven - Friday Night
Got all my gear together, stopped at the spar for bait ( sweetcorn & luncheon meat ) and got to my usual pond, to be told by the balif that the landowner had stopped people fishing because a couple of his hanging baskets had been nicked - gutted, It was a mint little spot, loads of nice carp & tench
Plan B, races to the tackle shop to but maggots for another water nearby thats day ticket. There was a fundamental flaw in my plan though - fishing season is not yet open , no luck there.
Plan C, back up to near where I had started out for another water that anyone can fish, nobody seems to own or look after it. As a result the place is a tip, beer cans, litter, old disposable BBQ's lying around, shopping trolleys etc...
Anyway, got set up & caught 2 tiddly roach - both of them were riddled with parasites - so they went down the livebait route - with no luck from Mr Pike.
Still, twas a nice evening and the Stellas tasted loveley in the sun.

The sea trouting is good at the moment MJ, we have just finished the 4 pounder I caught the other day. Makes a really good cold salad.
I used to go fishing in a small weir pool on the River Mole when I was a lad, clear water, full of perch, big pike, chub, dace, eels etc etc. I went to see it a short while ago-it is overgrown and full of old supermarket trolleys and an old motor bike. Heartbreaking to see what the vandals will do now.
