Do I just stick my head in the sand?

It's looking very likely that I am not gonna make the next round of 'cost cutting measures'
Do I stick my head in the sand and hope for the best or start making plans?
Thing is I am in the city/financial sector so it aint exactly a fertile job market

if you work in IT, just nick a PC.
i'm sure the company would loan you one if they had to make you redundo...
or get someone else to knock it up for ya.
put some feelers out, you really need email and web access to do proper "job hunting" these days!!
atb.

I used to be a 'pimp' before I saw the error of my ways
all my contacts are out of date now
I don't much fancy stackign shelves for £4 an hour but if needs be....I've been there before, amazed me the number of people who look down on shop workers and treat them like ****
I was queing in Sainsbury's and there was this right ****** in front well up himself being all funny with the assistant...you could tell she was getting down with it....so I said it for her "who the **** do you think you are speaking to her like that?" soon shut him up that did...I remember what it was like having to bite your tongue

yeah mate, you cant be proud, you have to do what you have to do to survive....(legal activities, of course)
i got a wife and wee kiidy at home to support, so if i got the shove, i'd do anything it takes to keep them provided for.
(except selling my PS2, of course)
you'll be fine mate, something better may actually come along, you never know.
just get your head round the fact that it "can" happen, so be ready for it mentally!!!

I know quite a number of people who got the chop. More often than not they are happier in a better job a year down the line. I can certainly say that I am. Get yourself some unemployment insurance to cover you for a year so that you can have a think about your new career plan without resorting to stacking shelves

Make plans, never hurts to look around.
I've worked for the same company for 9 years, but 2 years ago things were a bit uncertain, and I decided to look for another job, so had a few interviews, offered one of the jobs on the spot, but I turned it down, as, in the nick of time, there were totally drastic changes in the company struture which made things 200 percent better than they were, so I stayed, and it's been pretty good since.

keep calm. push for as much as you can get if they do it. as fast bloke says, most people find a job at a better place rather than having this redundancy stuff all the time and a bad atmosphere.
**** happens, just try and deal with it positively.
i looked for cheap PCs on google and found this (one of many) http://62.128.221.101/getmeapc/
good luck .. i'm sure if you need further advice the good people on here will give it

Know the feeling mate, in the past 4 years my company has had 4 different owners and 5 different names and been through 2 rounds of major staff cuts of which my dad was a victim but im still hanging in there.
