Any recommendations on route? Driving up on a saturday, have to be in Chester by 2ish. Should I avoid the motorways around Birmingham? Go through London to the M40/M1? etc. etc.

Depending on time I may like to include some nice 'driving' roads diversions if possible although this could be left to the Sunday ont he way back when time is less of an issue.

Ideas?

thanks

Followed by M56, then onto the ***.

Use Park and Ride if you're doing the shopping thing, the City Centre car parks are a rip off. Park and Ride is free parking and £1.20 per person, loads of spaces and fairly crime free e.g. over Xmas one of my brothers left the back door of my Lexus open and we didn't notice till we got back. Not even my cd's got nicked.

Thanks, cousin is getting wed up there & parking is no probs.

Keep them coming. Basically trying to find out the 'must-avoid' roads and also the 'you-must-try-the-xxx' roads. Back via Buxton etc.???

No real must avoids, but as for must try's, head into North Wales and find the A5, pick any road off there and have fun, but beware of mobile speed cameras! Bala lake or Betws-Y-Coed makegooid stopping points.

Of course, it's in no way on your way back to Croydon
