This came to me when I was driving back to London last Sunday night. I was catching up the usual middle lane hog, though in this case as it was a four lane section, they were the lane 2 hogs. Being bored and also feeling a little mischievious, I came to invent a new game. Now I haven't got a name for it, but Hog Lapping is the best I have come up with.
Anyway the game is simple, you have to drive in circles around the lane hog. Simply accelerate past them in the correct outside lane, move to the inside lane, and slow down a bit. You then let them move past you again, after which you can accelerate, overtake them in the outside lane and move in again. Simply repeat until they move into the inside or you get bored again.
It kept me amused for 10 mins the other night, was completely legal, except for a bit of minor speeding and had the lane hog completely confused. I mananged ten laps until they moved into the inner lane and spoiled my fun.
Give it a try one day when you find yourself on an empty bit of motorway with a lane hog. Oh and any suggestions for a proper name to give the game are welcome. If anyone wants to think of some rules and a scoring system please post it as a reply, I thinking of points for each lap, with various discretionary bonus points for make of car, age of driver etc etc.

That's priceless I'm going to try it next time I see one on an empty motorway.
How about Hog-Lapping?
or Piggy in the middle?

Been doing this for years..
even better is to get two cars doing about 120mph and rip past the "middle lane sex-offender type", one at each side.
P.S. don't do this to small cars, we had a 2cv that nearly flipped over in our wake vorticies

we've done this for ages as well.........
recently four of us going to London and we ended up torturing this old couple in a volvo, but the pretty young thing in the back was well amused

I like to play the 'You are not turning left for the rest of the day game' Works best if you have three or more lanes, just sit on the inside lane about a foot behind the lane hog. If they speed up, so do you, if they slow down, so do you. If you come up behind something slow, nip into the outside, get past, then quickly back to the inside and slow down until he is just in front of you again. If you get really committed you can keep him on the motorway for as long as you like.
(It is perfectly legal - I got pulled by an unmarked car for doing this on him once - he was raging to the point that he couldn't talk without dribbling, but he could find nothing to do me for )
Anyway - off to find a motorway for a bit of piggy in the middle

I often have people doing something similar to me. Overtake me at 90mph. Then they answer the mobile phone and slow to about 55mph cos they can't concentrate, so I pass. 5 mins later, phone call over, zoom past at 90mph again. 5 mins later I am passing them again because they have phone glued to ear Who says using the mobile while driving is safe

Another variation has been suggested to me... overtake, pull into the middle lane and slow so the lane hog has to overtake you!!! Then as soon as he pulls into the middle lane... rpeat.

thats as old as the hills
you need 2 cars to play chase around the hog, years ago we used to do it around trucks, 1 car on either side & the winner was who ever caught the other car
yoof of today come up with your own games
