Lo peeps

Could anyone help me with this please?

I've had a good offer for my private registration number and I'm considering selling it.

I will be paying for the tranfer and registration from my car to the new owners car, and I will be paying to register my old registraion number or a new private reg number on to my car.

Any ideas how much this might cost?Is this going to cost me £80 each way or can I get this done for a one time fee of £80?

I'm saying £80 because that is what it cost me in transfer fees when I bought the plate.

Just done a similar thing not that long ago.

Goes like this.

If you are transferring from one vehicle to another..it's £80.
If you are taking a plate off a vehicle to be put on retention, it's £115.

Once it's on retention, you would have to pay a further £80 for it to go back on at a later date. Which i am also in the process of doing.

Dunno if that helps any ??

I don't wish to sound pedantic but no, you don't.
You have the registration number retained for 1 year. If you havn't assigned it to a vehicle in that time, you have to pay the £115 (I ercall it being £120 last year) again.
The initial fee of £115 includes the transfer onto another car.

Scoty, when you transfer your plate to the new owner, you are automatically gievn back your original reggie (at no cost), unless it's been bought by someone, in which case you will be given another FOC.

When I took my personal plate off my old car I was given a new number but same age as car, I don't think you will get the original one back. They stamped the MOT and wrote the new reg on it and gave me a new tax disc with new reg to match old ones expiry with personal plate. I never had an original plate so maybe things could be different. Why not ring your local VRO and ask? All the phone numbers are on DVLA website.

Andy.

As Paul said, you get your original number back if it is still available or another one if it is not.

If you are transferring your plate to another car it's £80 IIRC and you will get your old plate back for free

Or you could put it on retension £25 IIRC and that means you will get a certificate for the plate and your old plate back. This way would mean the person that bought the plate would have to pay the £80, hope this helps

Edited due to dodgy spelling
