Being Friday we are having debate..

If a shoe size changes from 9 to 9 1/2 is it the length or width that changes ?

My colleague says width and the bimbet and me say length.

Any suggestions (apart from get out more)

If the size represents length, then it must be length.

(You can get shoes with same sizes (lengths) and different widths).

that's what I thought but he'll only give way (and buy the round) if I can find definitive evidence.

They both expand in the forefoot. Go buy a pair of odour-eaters, you cut them down to size so you can compare all sizes up to 12/13 I think.

But size 9 refers to length. Width fittings are expressed by letters A to G (I think that's the widest)
