Would This Number Plate Look Like My Name ?
#1
Just after a few opinions really. My name is Matthew K. The closest number plate I can find to this on newreg.co.uk is M2 TTK.
If I spaced it M2TT K would this look like MATT K ?
All and any opinions appreciated !

Nope. TBH if you're going to spell a name, you have to do it properly. The only ones I would countenance would be:
M4TT K
or
M8TT K
Can you find any others that are M4TT or M8TT with a different letter at the end (e.g. M4TTX) or have they all gone?
IMHO, if you can get one that looks 'right' from the DVLA all well and good. If you can't, then either (a) pay an auction site lots of money for a decent one or (b) don't bother.
My wife's name is TAHIRA and I managed to get T8HRA for her. But all the decent C4RL or C8RL ones have gone -- even the K4RL and K8RLs so I'm not going to bother.

Newsflash!!! I wonder what name the number plate below could be???
I don't think its too difficult to work it out. If a more obvious number that looked like a letter A was available then I would have gone for it. But, for £250 all in I don't think you can go wrong. Anyway, it was a present from my wife so all in all I'm really chuffed.
If you want to see what a plate looks like try www.gtgraphix.co.uk (something like that) and go to the plate builder.

Look at it like this:
If you spell a word wrong, by for example missing a letter or putting the wrong letter- people still know what the word is.
My rule for plates is that one number/letter can be changed or left to interpretation.Start messing with two and it starts to look a bit poo.
For example on my plate i have a 6 instead of an N- now a 6 doesnt look like an N unless you severely mess with the font which i have not done.
But because of the letters around it (all the others are the actual letters that make up my name,) and the spacing of it- its obvious what it says.
When i got it all the other combinations were gone and i wanted it with my surname initial at the end.
Hell, if the kids in my class can work it out (they are ten) then its not that unobvious.
K2RL is even more obvious when spaced like the pic of the lotus.
Personally i think M2TT K looks wicked- and i would buy it if i were you- especially as it has your end initial also.
If you were to fiddle with the letter font it would look desperate IMHO and like you were trying too hard.
Go for it.
P.s buy it from the DVLA (www.dvla-som.co.uk) as the newreg price is £244 plus VAT plus transfer and they take ages. DVLA price is all inclusive.

2 would look like an A!
On my plate i have a 9 as a B and lucky for me the place where the screw ended up it looks like a B and everyone says it looks good. I would go for it and forget all the n00bs saying other wise.
