Calais to Les Arc..how long?

Hi folks!
Im thinking of booking to ski in les arcs, never been there before.
what sort of time is it from calais to les arc?
im trying to gauge wether itsworth driving out r flying, bearing in mnd my daughter will be going and will be 3yr 10m.
its 6 hours to the ferry from my house but that will be in the night.
could do easyjet, but i wont be able to take as much gear and it means more lugging and i would have to sort a transfer at the other end which is more messing about with luggae etc.
Diesels cheap over there and my car averages 45mpg. the ferry crossing is in the price.
any views? do many of you drive out to the alps? i have done it before but that was to alpe d'huez which took along time.
