Why do lorries keep flashing me?
#1
Every now and then, and its been happening over a period of 2/3 years, whenever i overtake a lorry in my car, they flash me.
Its really weird and it happened again today....twice.I overtake the lorry and as i pull in front of him he flashes me.
Now i know lorries flash each other to indicate its safe to pull in,but why flash a car.
At first i used to stop thinking something was falling off my car etc,but now i just ignore it.
Anyone else?

they are telling you its OK to pull in now, more applicable to other lorries as they are obviously longer and more difficult to tell when they are fully past the lorry thats being overtaken. However some guys do it for everyone.

SS,
If you was maintaining a steady 70ish MPH wagon drivers use this as a common curtisy and a gesture by flashing you back into the lane you have just passed them....they usually dont bother if your tanking it in the 3rd lane though!
You will also have noticed that wagons' after passing a slower wagon flashing their indicator one side after the other after the slower wagon has flashed him back in.....this is usually a way of saying thanks!
I get this a lot in my Transit and usually just return the left right left indicator "Thanks" signal after returning to the lane. Just being curteous really. After all there isnt a lot of it about on our roads these days so make the most of it!!

I had this yesterday going down the M5, but I just see it as them being friendly by saying it's ok to pull in. I just indicate back to say thanks and pull in.
It probably brightens up there day, they must be bored stiff going up and down motorways all the day.
Cheers

SS,
Its more to do with road manners really. Just look at it that way.
The way to get it to stop is fly past them all at 100mph and then theywill all think "What a to55er!" instead and not bother flashing you in!!

This isn't so great when you're following the overtaking wagon and are planning on overtaking it too. Seeing a wagon's right indicator flashing just as I'm level with their rear bumper and accelerating... gives me the *******.

Your not female are you Starr ?? . Being driver myself we always flash Females in after overtaking. What with CB radio we know whats happening behind us and the word soon goes down the line saying female in car xyz coming on through. Its even worse if she showing LEG.. Thats the plus side that stops us from gettin bored. Roll on the SUMMER, mmmmmmmmmm

I flash cars to return to the correct lane after they have passed me...
I suppose it's a bit of common courtesy, but also to 'assist' those people that just cruise in anything other than lane 1....
.... I attempt to make them think!! of where they are in the road!!
Sometimes works....... an it's not often that something passes me... he he he

It could mean one of two things IMHO,
Either they could be flashing you friendily telling you its safe to pull in or if you overtook them like a bat out of hell, they could be flashing in the sense of slow down you t*$$er!
