I've just changed from Business line to Residential, saves about £15 per 1/4. As Yellow Pages are now a private company i.e not owned by BT, I can still advertise in there and have a res. line. I don't really think there are any benefits of a Bus. line, cos when my line crashed for 3 days,I got compensation of £50 per day, ( bus.line) but they changed all that now to compensating with free or discounted calls off your next bill!
Also, on a res. line you can use Friends & family and get cheaper calls.
Zip.
1471 does work on bus. lines.

Question

Getting a new line installed at our house is cheaper if it's for residential use rather than business - why the difference and who's going to know what it's used for?
Likewise, I've a funny feeling if we were to start a business at home and we told BT, they'd increase the line rental charges.

'Hello, is that BT?, I'd like to give you some more money because I'm too honest'

????? am I missing something here....

Unless business lines get more services, then I would say BT are charging you more because...... they can.

IIRC business lines don't have 1471 enabled either (

You get better maintenence with a business line eg 8 hours call out or something like that.

As Davy says you get a better SLA (Service Level Agreement) for a business line. I can check when I'm back in the office tomorrow but I also suspect you can claim more compensation if your line is out of service.

Just been told that if you have a business line, you can claim the tax back and business expenses.......if you have a residential line you can`t claim anything back.
Also if it`s business it goes into the business directory where as you residential wont.
