I was bought a Synergie 2150 cordless phone for Christmas in December 01 - just over a year later its stopped working.
My mum (who bought the phone) did purchase an extended 3 year warranty with it so I am covered until December 04.
However the extended warranty form wasn't filled in & returned within 30 days as specified - its still in with all the papers at home.
I remember watching Watchdog a while ago & they said that this doesn't matter - a company has to honour any extended warranty even without the warranty registration form returned within a certain time-scale.
Anyone know my consumer rights here ? I would like to quote some legal jargon at them if I get resistance so if anyone knows or can direct me to a resource on the web that would be great.

If you handed over additional cash for the extended warranty you are covered.
They can either fix/replace the phone or they can return the additional money paid. Simple.
I would find the receipt and take that and the phone to the store in question. Point out you have the extended warranty on the receipt and ask for your new phone
As for whether they can turn you down if you haven't filled in the paperwork, I would doubt it. You have paid for the warranty so they must honour it.
I have legal training etc. YMMV
Cheers
