Most locals see it as a eye sore,so perhaps one of them did it..Its the ONLY way they are going to get the council to pull it down.

It is the only Grade 1 listed pier in the country.
It is going to be restored/rebuilt by the Brighton West pier trust at a cost of £30 million.
Some locals are objecting to the plans because they dont want bars/entertainment on the pier head.
The other pier (formally palace,now just Brighton pier) is objecting to the plan as it is using lottery money and they say that is unfair.
The fire/falling into the sea earlier in the year will not effect the plans to restore it as most of the work was already going to be rebuilding to original spec rather than restoring whatg was there.....
