Since its Friday I thought I'd post this question to test your car nut rating:

Q: Which car manufacturer built the worlds fastest accelerating production car ever?

Note: Accelerating - meaning from 0-60mph.
Production - meaning minimum of 200 cars built.

(now I'm farily confident I know the answer to this one but maybe someone can prove otherwise?)

As I say, minimum 200 cars built...and 0-60 not outright top speed.

is it the Bugatti Veyron 16/4. It can reach speeds of over 436 kph or over 260 mph. It has 1001 hp. The Corvette Slegdehammer or the McLaren F1 is pretty close, but they didnt make 200. found on the net.

Dodge Viper Venom? has been quoted at 2.8.

Could be a Group B homologation car - there are still some brutal 6R4's kicking about but not sure if these are pure production or jst tuned for rallycross. I've been in one that was time at 0-62 in 2.9 on gravel

We almost have a winner. But no prizes yet...the full answer needs to include 'Which car manufacturer built' the cars. Because despite the the badge on the bonnet it was actually built by another car manufacturer.

Hurrah!!!

Indeed! Reliant manufactured the bodyshells and assembled the 200 homologation Ford RS200 Group B cars at its Shenstone factory during 1985/6....banned from rally competition due to being too fast and therefore dangerous.

If my memory serves me well- Tiff Needel did this on the last 5th gear series.
He used a Tiger car and beat the old 0-60 time (that the Ford had set)by about 0.3 of a second.
