Hi all
My land line keeps going beep just as if someone has just put the phone down.
No one is using it, but its been doing this for 2 or 3 days now, approx every hour or so - think it may be the sky box. Think I might unplug it from the line.
Any ideas?

hmm not sure, but my BT highway makes a clicking sound everynow and then, think thats just the ISDN lines though checking themselves, any BT engineers offer any help ?
Edited to say, just asked my colleague he says the noise is because someone is dialling the ISDN numbers that NO-ONE should be dialling.! ! thats sorted that then

If you don't use sky interactive I suggest you unplug it, mine has been unplugged since the engineer left after installation.

Mine lines unplugged too. But someone I know got a letter from $ky saying that their box was not connected to the designated telephone line, and that an engineer would have to call to check them out. Just wondered if they can poll/interrogate the box through the phone line, or whether they were just doing a spot check?

IIRC the Sky contract requires you to leave the box connected to the phone line for the first year. I'm sure they can check it. Don't know why they need it, but I guess it's so they can get an idea what people are watching. I disconnected ours as soon as the year was up. Only need to connect it now when confirming a pay-per-view (e.g. a film or premiersh1t plus).

Do you have a phone that rings plugged into the 2nd analogue socket?but my BT highway makes a clicking sound everynow
If the relay's in the Highway NTU start clicking, there's usually a call on the 2nd analogue line.

Just FYI, my sky box has never been plugged in to telephone system and I have had no call from sky in 2 years.. saying that, if they did moan I would tell them to stuff their near £40 per month subscription - that would keep em quite..
anyways.. I had a problem with phone ringing and nobody on other end, this was those automated dialling systems, BT will give you a number to call to get you removed from these lists (and it works) - as for the beeping - could be a similar device calling when you have call waiting ?? - can't tell without actually listening to it...
