Government U -Turn On Speed Camaras
#1
I hear that this lovely car adoring government of ours has weakly caved in to certain anti-car pressure groups on speed camaras. The outcome is that positioning camaras in hidden locations will become quite legall,as will not having to paint them in a visible colour anymore.Once again the poor motorist is getting screwed by this seemingly car hating government.

Wrex,
Where exactly did you get this news from? Can you point us to a site, for example, where this view is stated in black & white?
No offence but there is a lot out there re speed camera's that needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

There was something on Ceefax news a couple of days ago; I forget the full details but it wasn't quite as bad as that. Clearly, though, somebody somewhere feels it's better for motorists to see them at the last minute and slam on the brakes, rather than getting more warning and being able to slow down safely.

During my daily visits to Portsmouth I notice no less than 4 new speed camera's in place. Currently covering in cardboard it wont be long before they are operational....*******s.
For those who live locally, one on the M27 exit, one on the Gunwharf approach, 1 in Hilsea directly off of the Hilsea roundabout and one on Eastern road. Be AWARE!
But on a lighter note I won my case against a parking ticket, even though I was in the wrong

I read a article about said subject in the Daily Mail a few days ago.Yes i know you quite often have to take newspaper storys with a pinch of salt. But it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it comes into affect,as the Government can't seem to make there mind upon anything and then stick to it.

I read last week about the Germans stopping using gatsos as they were proved to be inaccurate unless they were facing directly towards the oncoming car. It was said that by having them at a slight angle (from pavement)they didn't give a true reading?
Anyone else heard of this?
