ITV: How much will they loose covering this war??
#2
Both the BBC and ITV are as bad as each other - using war coverage as a ratings grabber.
It brought it home on September 11th, when the BBC cancelled virtually all scheduled TV programmes that evening, except EastEnders.

Fecking BBC
On BBC2 they cancelled Horizon last night (about the brain and god and stuff) and changed Trouble at the Top from Ray (Robocop) Mallon to some baker
I admit that i watched the war coverage intermittently during the night, most of which was repeats of the Harriers flying over Iraq (using heat seeking cameras ); more repeats of reporters putting on gas masks, and even more repeats of coverage shot by other TV stations.
The BBC messed up during Gulf War 1, so are intent on going OTT for any other coverage

...but most of it is not war coverage
A typical scene is a postage stamp sized "picture in picture" of some "expert" that you have never heard of, with the bulk of the screen showing the same 15 second looping clip time and time again. You know, the one of the soldier smashing the door window with his rifle; or the tank firing rounds then panning back to soldiers on the ground looking at a map. Then, at the bottom of the screen the sub-titles repeat what the "expert" said only a few seconds ago.
Fancy TV effects just for the sake of it - heck, it is worse than Tricia!!!
Didn't the BBC create a whole new channel (News 24, which we all paid for out of our licence fee ) for this kind of stuff. Well howz about keeping the bulk of the war coverage there!!!!!
