candle wax removal from laquered antique?

anyone know best technique for this problem that'll preseve the furniture? It's a laquered wooden Chinese chest. Im afraid it'll lift off the laquer if not careful.....

No expert but perhaps warming it up a bit with a hair dryer will make it easier to remove

agree, but do it throgh some brown paper or newspaper to soak up the wax.
