how odd - I've driven down it at ~40-45 mph for the last few years and never been flashed. why would anyone put such a stupid speed limit on what amounts to a dual carrage way anyway? oh I'm sorry, that would be concerete ken

30 mph in most of the places i know. The stretch along near Chelsea is 30 mph and therefore popular with Traffic cops with Laser guns as it is wide and people are tempted not for long though TFL are to take one lane of road away put in a Cycle lane between Chelsea bridge and Albert bridge!!

Once saw despatcher attempting the land speed record along the embankment.
White van pulled out in front of him and it was very messy. Bike almost exploded on impact with bits of smashed fibreglass everywhere. Unfortunately, bits of rider spread around as well.
Usually quicker to walk along there. I used to use flat near Ministry of Defense (Whitehall Court, next to Horseguards) and it was quicker to walk than be stuck in cab along Embankment. Cabs would do around 50mph if road was ever clear.
