Unhappy

Everytime I go to Tesco's at lunch-time I get asked 'would you like a hand to pack' I actually find this quite insulting given that I usually have little more than a few sanny's, a choc bar, paper and a drink! Yet anytime I go when I'm doing a weeks shopping I never get asked. Meanwhile - despite my best efforts - the spotty till clerk smacks the stuff through quicker than I can pack! What the heck is that all about Are these people not taught to apply some common sense to their jobs? No offense if you work at tesco btw

If I ever get asked that, I reply with "no thanks, but could you come home with me and put it all away"

Funnily enough, they never have. I think it would be a great service though

Didn't they teach you how to spell at college Ricey? Or were you learning to stick pasta/lentils/rice/pebbles onto paper in a creative way?

SB If they don't ask you if you'd like any help, and you turn out to be a mystery shopper, they get a crap score and end up getting re-trained at their job. Believe me, they dislike asking as much as you dislike being asked.

Think of it like this: if they were smart, they wouldn't be packing people's bags in Tesco for a living...

I would say if you are/are not (delete according to your preference) offered help to pack your shopping, meybe you should just get on with life and be thankful that you don't work in Tesco's? Especially not one that SB frequents...

LOL I understand that they have to ask it all the time but it bugs that some employees ignore this policy when the help would actually be appreciated

Sorry weapon69, point taken. I just don't like any situation where policy and procedure prevail over common sense - even if it's not necessarily your fault.

The funniest time I remember was when I called one of the big PC retailers to order a crate of blank CDs for work - the agent took my order, then asked if I wanted to order any blank CDs! Obviously it was a question she'd been told to ask every customer, but under the circumstances (I'd just ordered 50...) it was particularly silly. Imagine ordering five portions of fries and being asked 'do you want fries with that?'

A.
