So I was just thinking about this one...
What is the difference between a bottle of Volvic/Evian and Tesco/Safeway bottled water? I'd be surprised if there is any difference at all. But you still see people going for the big brand stuff.
Why do they do it? Is it because they don't want to look cheap by buying the cheaper & better value stuff? Or is it because paying so much more for a different label will make them look er & respectable?
And what if none of them had labels but were different prices, which one would they go for then?
Are we a nation of snobs?

I don't like water much but am drinking three litres a day at the moment.
The only way I can do it is by buying Tesco slightly sparkling flavoured water. I buy it because I like it.

I also noticed all this fruit flavoured nonsense
Not a bad Idea, but why? . For the price they ask, you could buy cheaper water & buy some real fruit.
I'd like to meet the people who fall for these marketing ploys

Just go to Tescos and stand by the bottled water section.

I think a lot of people are not happy about drinking water which has been recycled through the water works several times, not too keen on that myself. Also some areas have pretty foul tasting water because of the volume of added chemicals.
I was a bit chary about our water when we bought this house because it is a private supply from a well. When it was analysed nothing could be found wrong with it, no bacteria, nitrates, etc. The only thing they found which is common in this part of the country was manganese but said the only possible effect might be discolouration when boiling the water. This does not happen and the water is chrystal clear. Tastes so good that people often fill 5 gallon containers to take home with them.
I did read somewhere once that commercially bottled water often is high in bacterial content.

I don't like the taste of plain water. I do like the taste of Tesco flavoured water. I need to drink 3 litres of water a day. I buy flavoured water because drinking 3 litres of that is pleasant, not the chore that tipping 3 litres of plain water down my neck every day used to be.
IMO, if it works for me, I'm not knocking it.

@ Crush - I buy Volvic and Only Volvic - The only reason is I can't taste it. Aslong as it isnt warm - I cannot drink tap water without wanting to puke - and I cant drink Fizzie Drinks or Water with flavoring in it or I need 4 fillings every 6 months from my Dentist. I have a water filter in the fridge that takes some tase of tap water away - I just cant taste Volvic at all so thats what I buy. If I could buy something cheap that tasted nice and didn't wreck my teeth I would

I use one of these to keep a jug in the fridge topped up.
Works out cheaper than a Britta jug and doesn't take ages to fill up either.
I don't get the point of flavoured water, surely all that added sugar, flavours and preservatives defeat the object of drinking water?

The flavoured water I drink doesn't have added sugar.
The flavours and preservatives are not ideal, but imo it's better than being as dehydrated as I was before I started making an effort to drink enough. I don't like plain water, so this is the only sensible way to stay hydrated.

I've started drinking about 3 pints of tap water
It all tastes the same to me if it's really cold! . It's a lot better than drinking coffee all day though
Try drinking an ice cold glass of water then having a XXX mint! It's quite invigorating
And another thing, why does bottled water have a use by date?

I gave coffee and tea (except hippie type green tea and rooibusch (sp?)) about 18 months ago and probably drink about 5-6 pints of filtered water a day.
I don't really feel any better but i do feel much worse if i don't drink enough. I'm a bit on the thirsty side in general though.
After a week or two you stop needing the loo every five minutes too.
An old gf used to know a trick with XXX mints

I drink evian, and lots of it...
If i do drink tap water i can most certainly taste the chemicals in it.Minging.
Whereas evian has no taste- if you get what i mean.
