IDE
#1
I have 4 IDE devices in my PC.
1 EIDE Hard disk
2 EIDE CDRW
3 EIDE DVD
4 IDE Zip Drive
Currently I have the Hard disk and DVD on one EIDE channel and the CDRW and Zip on the other.
Is this the best arrangement for performance?
I cannot afford to replace my PC until next year and want to make the best of my current system.

If the hard disk is a reasonably new ATA66 or ATA100 it may be worth getting a separate ATA100 controller which would potentially increase the disk speed and give you four IDE channels so they could all have one each. About £20 + VAT from places like scan.

Thanks
The hard disc is ATA66 so I may well do this.
Will the pc boot from the hard disk attached to the controller card or do I still need a hard disk attached to the IDE ports on the motherboard?
