Question

I have used various companies in the past, either proved un-reliable or started to take the wiss with the prices. It is to cover most parts of the country. Work can vary from single dual Cat5e outlets to whole sites including fibre optics.

Some work is short notice but most is scheduled.

Any recommendations ?

Skippy.

We've dealt with Sphinx/CST for about 11 years. They're very professional, countrywide and reasonable (for such a large company). You can contact their Leeds branch on 0113 2342200. Speak to Colm Whittle (Colm isn't a mis-spelling) or e-mail him on colm.whittle@sphinxcst.co.uk

Hope this helps.

We are a small but very flexible contractor based in Edinburgh.

Our customers vary from your usual blue chip companies to individuals who wish Cat5e (and fibre!) in their houses.

If the work is regular and carries some sort of profile then we could agree on some sort of fixed pricing.

You can email me on william@ecs-uk.net.

I look forward to hearing from you.

If you want another recommendation, speak to Ecom Technical Services. When I worked at Coutts, these guys did the entire network rollout across 24 sites, involving thousands of Cat5 points and a load of fibre work aswell.

Ask for Errol Malcolm (the boss) - top bloke knows his stuff inside out. He is based in South London, but I know he does have guys in the north of the country and handles contracts all over the place.

Can't praise him, his cable guys or the quality of their work highly enough.

Contact Details:

Errol Malcolm
ECOM Techncial Services Ltd

Hackford Walk

London SW9 OQT
Tel 020 7793 9900

Mention my name (Chris Leppard), so he'll have to buy me a beer sometime

Cheers

I used to work for a reseller and the company we used is called Cable Tech, and they completed rewired the Cable & Wireless building in Red Lion Square with Cat6, before it was officially ratified. They even beat Cable and Wireless' own cabling division to the job!

I'm also sure that they could work on a fixed price point scheme, but you might need to speak to them to confirm this though.

If you want their details then drop me an email.

Tony,

I've moved on from the reseller market, so I was assuming the ratification would have taken place by now!

Sorry for the assumption - anyhow, C&W still have it
