I'd spent this morning working on a customer's site in Warrington. Most of the partners from the customer were going to the match.
I was sprinting back down the M6 to get home in time for kick-off and the bugger rang my colleague with me - how noisy in Old Trafford?

I take it there won't be any complaints about how much injury time the ref adds on at Old Trafford any more
It wasn't a good performance by any means, except for Beckham giving 110% as usual. No doubt the media will now have us down as favourites for the world cup though

Yes congrats to England. Beckham had a blinder. But the Greek team did well too. Full marks to them.
It was a relief for a change as Greece usually cops 4 or 5 goals from England. The new coach has done good it appears. Greece should have pressed on, like they were doing in the first half instead of dropping back, thinking they could get away with 1-0. That is the problem with Greek sides, they score a goal and drop back. Even in the Champions league. Then they always cop the loser in the dying seconds. When are they going to learn. I know they do this coz 2 of my good friends played for Panathinaikos and Olympiakos from 1987 till 1998. Both, half Aussie and half Greek. Chris Kalantzis and Louie Christodoulou. We talked about this plenty of times. They are no good at that, yet they do the same thing, time and time again. Why can't they just carry on attacking for the whole game. I don't see England or Germany or The Netherlands or others do this. Only Italy is good at scoring the odd goal and dropping back. Don't fix something that is not broken, I reckon.
Still I'll be barracking for England in the finals as I always do when Greece and Australia aren't there.
Come on England.
Cheers,
Wrexy.

SIR Beckham I think, "not a man u fan" did scholes manage a single pass?. I reckon he had been on holiday in Holland, somebody remind him to take those clogs off. So why is this thread closed in general forum, does it really MATTER.

At the end of the day scoles amongst others had a bad day! however sherry and becks did a blinder never have I seen such want/need in a game as becks shows pure england honour was shown. gerrard although a good player no doubt lacked something today and i think owen was serverly missed.
World cup here we come.

Talk about last gasp result....
Why do we always have to rely on Beckham? Most of the remainder of the team didn't seem to want the ball or know what to do when they got it. Seemed to be more passes back to Nigel Martyn than to our own attack.
S-G has got to sort out the defence. We've looked exposed every single game - even during the German destruction - and other sides won't be so forgiving.
Still, at least we're there!!
