Unhappy

Can anybody help , have a deskpro SFF system that takes a slimline 24 speed cd rom,

it has just died on me and the slot will not take a standard one.

Has anybody got one or know where to get apart from Compaq as they will charge an arm and a leg

Thanks in advance

Jase

Have you tried...?

EAF (Official Compaq parts) - 0118 912 0000

Active Electronics (Official Compaq parts) - 01494 44 99 04

I'll have a look through my contacts and see what I can dig up.

i think you will struggle to find one. they were a pain to get hold off direct from compaq. i dont believe there was a 3rd party one available. certainly not one i could ever fund / purchase.

we bought quite a few of the damn things - worst purchases we made. still we did not get to many as we soon moved back to buying a normal size cd.

customers didn't like them cos we couldn't upgrade them to an internal cd re-writer !

Compaq dont sell these as accessorys anymore... as the new deskpro's are still small form factor but take a 5 1/4" cd drive now..

You can only buy them as spares.... expensive.. Maybe cheaper to buy external scsi.

Try LDD in leeds as we bought some for about forty quid not so long ago... but apparently they are spares only now.. (Oval Shape that is..)
