domain name question
#1
Theres a certain domain name that I am after - its a .com. I have been keeping a eye on it and it was up for renewal on 24th September but it hasn't been renewed, it wasn't even being used - only pointing to a holding page.
Now it doesn't appear to be getting renewed but still shows on the whois database as being taken so how do I go about getting it???

In short, you can't.
I have badgered various registrars on this myself. Essentially the domain only becomes available when the purge their database of expired entries. There is no regularity to this, I've known some domains to be around a year after they've expired.
Whats odd is that the registrars advising contacting the owner to buy it off of them - but if its expired how can they be the owner still ? Odd eh.
So essentially you need to check on a regular basis and when it becomes available snap it up.
cheers
