Earliest spotting of "vape" was in the Judge Dredd strip in the graphic magazine 2000AD in 1980, around prog 220, when Cap'n Skank and his Black Sea pirates launch a nuclear strike on MegaCity One.

The city's perimeter "star wars" defences knock out all but one of the missiles, which "vapes" a city sector.

There are 3 classes of thread removal
Deletion - You tell the user with their full agreement
Vape - Just get rid of it
TWEP - Terminate With Extreme Predjudice - Vape it grinning manically.

Where possible and practical we try and let people know why their thread was removed.
