A mate is looking to get some chaep 128 MMC for a camera for Friday. What sites could be used as a quote for Jessops to match ? He was told it had to be UK based so has anyone got a site to ref. to or has anyone had experience of getting them to match ?
Thanks

Price matching by big high-street companies is a scam. They'll price match until the smaller operators (whose prices are low all the time) are forced out of business, then stick their prices back up. Then we'll all be forced into paying the higher prices.
Order some from Crucial today and you should have it by Friday.

As always buying on price will lead to less choice and increased prices eventually !
That said Jessops do actually seem very good and know the products and I'd actually use them despite working for a competitor of thiers.

Paul,
Jessops priced matched a digital camcorder I bought just before Xmas; they knocked £300 off their store price - which was nice
I was told to take a printout of the online price (with the name, address and tel# of the online store included) into the store. They had to contact head office to see they could price match or not.
In fact, the online store was still £30 cheaper than Jessops could match. The Manager told me that was just too low to make any decent margin. They threw in soe MiniDV tapes and since I could take it home there and then, I took the offer.

I have priced matched with Jessops on my digital camera. All I did was search for the product on google.co.uk making sure it was uk sites returned only. The other criteria was that the place I was using had to have the item in stock.
I happened to find the lowest price anywhere and it was in stock so printed it out, took it to Jessops in Cannon Street, one quick phone call to check it was in stock and it was all done, price matched and the item was mine for the same price as the website.
I was a very happy chappy as I got a Fuji Finepix 2800 for £270 and at the time everywhere was well over £300 with Argos being £399

Yes, but I bet that once you've pointed out the lower price they don't discount it for all future customers.
It's a rip-off, plain and simple. They charge what they think the market will stand, unless someone comes in with a price match. That way they get the best of everything.
I bought my digital camera from www.internetcamerasdirect.com and it came the next day. Bought a couple of 128MB CF cards from www.crucial.com and they came next day too. I like to support the people who are committed to permanently low prices.
