FN, although they said the B52s could create a crater a mile wide, i don't remember them saying it could be done with a single bomb.
Even a nuke would struggle to create a crater that wide, wouldn't it??

Anyone want to run a book on how many UK/US personnel get blown away by the yanks?
5-1 says 5 UK, and 30 Canadians.

Meteorites generally burn up in the atmosphere before they hit the ground. An asteroid could destroy the entire planet in one hit if it was big enough.

The impact of a space object with a size greater than about 1 km would be expected to be felt over the entire surface of the Earth. Smaller objects would certainly destroy the ecosystem in the vicinity of the impact, similar to the effects of a volcanic eruption, but larger impacts could have a worldwide effect on life on the Earth.
Currently, approximately 200 terrestrial impact structures have been identified, with the discovery rate of new structures in the range of 3-5 per year.
Calculations show that a meteorite with a diameter of 30 m, weighing about 300,000 tons, traveling at a velocity of 15 km/sec (33,500 miles/hour) would release energy equivalent to about 20 million tons of TNT
taken from here
cheers
big sinky

Largest crater on earth caused by human actions was Bikini Atol at 1/2 mile wide.
This was a nuke of 15 kilo tons.
and was called either the "able" or "Baker" blast (one was 10 kiloton, the other being 15, although the mixture was'nt quite right on the 15 so the 10 did more damage....)
the crater can be seen from space

ProperCharlie,
Yes Canadians do count actually.
Several hundred thousand Canadians have given their lives for the interests of the Allies during the World Wars. Seems us Canadians hold the British in higher regard than the British do us.
So nerr!!!

it is true that yanks do seem to have a habit of killing canadians and our british forces seem to kill Australians. As for the bombs making a mile wide crater, I dont think it is possible unless it is a formation bombing that is accurate but then it wouldnt be one mass crater.
But either way i dont want to see it coming !!!
