Question

Can anyone tell me how to change the registered user of Microsoft installed software. I have a new laptop running Win 2000 Pro and our MIS dept have installed Office 2000. However, upon installation they have spelled my name incorrectly. Every time I start an MS application I get the splash screen with my incorrectly spelled surname. Not critical, but annoying. How can I edit my surname spelling without reinstalling MS office?

Thanks

Paul

Go into the environment variables in the control panel/system/advanced/environment variables.

That probably won't help.

try this location in the registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\User information\...

(remember to back up the registry before changing it )

Just answered my own question I think. To backup use Export. To restore use Import.

As you said the actual value to change is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Re gisteredOwner.

Thanks for your help
