Really need a laptop. Spec not too important, just as long as it's new and ok.

Three ways that I know of...
1) Go to Australia on holiday and buy one. Bring it home and don't declare it. Illegal.

2) Go to the Dell factory site, and pick a low spec one. Hope that when you order it they have none in, and offer to upgrade your purchase. Legal but not entirely successful.

3)Buy a non branded PC that is made by the OE manufacturer before they retail to Dell / Compaq etc.
Examples : Inventec, Twinhead, Quanta, and ASE
YMMV. Good luck.
