I have a fixed pen notice in front of me,and where you sign it,it says in small print "(request only)".
Unfortunatly she has signed it 52 in a 30
May contest it though, the officer has marked the sheet to say that the car was an auto, its not,and he has also written down the reg wrong one diget is out.
If he cant do meanial tasks like copy down letters and numbers whats he doing in charge of a speed gun?

...Where it was also said that they cannot condone trying to get out of it.
52mph in a 30mph is a stupid speed, IMHO. On a motorway, I'd have a different view if it was say, 95mph, but through a 30mph? A built up area? *shakes head*

Does that not mean it`s not your car that`s been caught?? Don`t pay!!!

very interesting...
i received an NIP for dangerous driving in 1997, the police never managed to get behind the car to pull whoever was driving it (it was my car).
I received the NIP as it was registered (the car) to me, but this was 10 days after the alleged offence. Several people had access (legally) to my vehicle, therefore I could not state 100% who was driving. I wrote this down and returned the signed form, to North Wales police.
I never heard anything after that.

thats good, bit late but its good.
anyone heard of that thing where they have been nicking people incorrectly for speeding. heard that alot of people were getting points removed and compensation.
anyone know of ANYTHING like this, as i could then have my ban removed as i have been done by a gun without being stopped and this is what i understand as being the dodgy ones.

I've just been caught doing 44mph in a 30 zone. I'm going to request calabration and maintence records as well as evidence of the speed I was supposidly doing. Maintence records will show up any faults in the camera, and regular calabrations have to be done other wise the fine is void.
What have you got to lose????

Very interesting.
It could mean to going to court and alot of hassle! I would probably do it if i had 9 points on my license otherwise i would just accept it and forget about the aggro. Saying that though, im not sure! lol
CC, how did that work then? I thought you have to prove who was driving it otherwise it comes down to you??

I think the issue with people having convictions over-turned wasn't that people were wrongly accused by the police, but that the local councils had wrongly set (not sure how) the speed limits on the roads in question.

M0NEY, I went to see a local solictitor when I received the NIP...obviously I was quite alarmed because dangerous driving is a serious motoring offence.
Because the police never got a good look at the driver ie the car wasnt stopped, they never seen who got in or out of the car, the solicitor suggested that I return the NIP stating that I did not know who was driving. He also said that if they came knocking, say nothing other than "no comment" and ring him if the police start being pushy.
The police didnt knock but they stopped me in the same car about 2 weeks later. The copper then gave me a caution and asked me about the alleged offence to which I stated no comment as by this time I'd returned the NIP informing them that I didnt know who was driving.
As I posted earlier I didnt hear a thing after that. I'd do the same again too. Some people panic too easily when the Police become involved and start blabbing. No need. By Law, the only piece of information that you're required to supply to a copper is your correct name/dob/address and address is hard pin down too.

Sounds interesting mate! I was reading a website about this and they said if you cant prove who the driver is, its down to whoever owns the vehicle.

Even if you are the registered owner, the point is that whilst you are legally required to complete the form, you are NOT legally required to sign it
Forms which are not signed are not legally admissible evidence

I recieved an SP30 just under 3 years ago ..
was in a works hired vehicle at the time..
i had a passenger in the car, and we both looked ahead and saw the speed trap, so i slowed down well in advance...3 weeks later i got the documentation, said they had photo evidence...reckoned i was doing 55 in a 40 limit.... no chance, but i accepted the points and fine rather than go thru the hassle ..
then my insurance came for renewal ..i disclosed the sp30 it put my insurance up by half again.
then i got the Scoob, some insurances wouldnt insure me, and i ended up paying nearly £400 quid over what it should have been if id had a clean license.
I only wish now id asked to see the evidence .. and gone thru the hassle.
