The Weybridge Registry Office thread has jolted a memory from last Friday night! In our drunken state, me and my fella were talking about getting married and I want to go to Vegas and do the whole tacky drive thru, married by Elvis jobbie and he said he quite fancied Gretna Green (although the Vegas wedding would be first choice if we could afford it!).

Anyway, point of this post is...... Has anyone here 'run away to Gretna Green' and got married?! If so, what's it like?!

It's a bit 'Blackpool' if you know what I mean. Me and the missis got married in a castle about 15 miles away for just a few hundred quid. Far nicer location, with proper facilities if you want a few guests (we didn't! )

Wow, that place looks fantastic! We want to do the 'elope' thing though, I've been married once before and had the big wedding so next time, i'd like something informal. No family (well, except my son), nothing religious and not dressy! I want to wear my leathers when I get married agian!!!!

Gretna Green is good but go for Gretna Hall not the Blacksmiths shop where all the tourists go

Red Dog, you can go anywhere in Scotland and do the elope-job so pick a spot you both like and go for it. We chose Edinburgh which was great fun. Kilt's ahoy !
