I need a website that i can do a search on companies in a required area.
for example, i need to do a search that brings up a list of companies with their address, that manufacture toys or sports equipment etc etc in the West Midlands.
Iv just graduated so i want to send off my CV to loads of companies.

Ray,
Look for the local chamber of commerce in yellow pages or something, they produce business directories of local comapanies by name and SIC code. Depending on how good your local chamber is they may have this info online too.
