Could anyone recommend a good gaming mouse. I was looking at the razor Boomslang 2000 from Gameplay which even though its pricey the Boomslang unfortunately uses a ball instead of being optical.

I would be interested to hear what mice you all use and how you rate them

Thnaks

Cool

I use a logitech gaming mouse.

It's smaller and a more compact and comfortable shape than the usual standard one.

3 buttons is all I can cope with!!

I use a Microsoft Intellimouse

The middle wheel is great for weapon selection.

I second using a smaller optical mouse

Ive heard that the Boomslang's are too big, but very good if youve very large hands

I use a Micosoft optical and at super sensitivity its just superb, sneeze and youve just spun like a ballerina (sp?)

3 button logitech is all i use.

heard though that boomslang is excellent for hardcore gaming - just a lot of cash for a mouse.

[oh bazza i could make a comment there but i'm feeling benevolent so i won't ]

Thanks Guys

I have just had a good old rummage around in the internet (You gotta love work) and I am kinda swaying towards the Logitech MouseMan Wheel Optical retails at £26 in Dabs.
I'll think I pop into my local PC world tonight to play around with their mise....Ooo Err Missess.

Steve, Microsoft range from £15 for the OEM wheel Optical to £24 for Intelli Optical - both are PS/2 & USB

1st and foremost - get a USB mouse which operates at a higher scan rate than serial port mice.

My preference is microsoft intellimice optical, but everyone is different I suppose.

My experience:

1) Optical mouses never offer the 'sensitivity' and 'precision' that wheel mouses give.
2) USB is dependant on system resources, unlike serial. So if your PC is lagging out momentarily, then so will your mouse if you are using a USB. Serial doesn't do this.
3) Ball mouses last a lot longer (I'm on my 4th optical in about 18 months, 3 Microsoft Intellimouses and now I'm on a Logitech Cordless Optical mouse, which although rocks in normal usage, sucks in games)
4) Optical mouses require the perfect mousepad for reflecting the laser, so make sure you get a suitable one.
5) Wheel's are great for weapon selection, as David says.

Cheers,

Cem
