Standard Life/Endownments
#1
Just had my statement in and despite having invested 2 grand since July last year I'm only 900 quid better off. I've had this policy since 95 and average return is 7% with 5% loss this year.
Obviously a piece of crap investment wise, I thought this stuff was pretty 'Risk Averse' more like risk ****.
Thinking of just jacking in and sticking the money monthly into a cash deposit, then I've got emergency access plus reasonable guaranteed growth.
However part of my annual 230quid charges is currently 90K critical illness and life cover, any of you life insurance/FA guys know much this would be on the open market for 34 YO Male and 37YO Female non smokers.
Anyone got any suggestions on what options we have, we don't need the policy as house is paid but as per the usual line 'Don't cancel endownment policies' we haven't.
We've got a second one with them but only got a few years to go on that and its with profits so best wait for the Terminal bonus. This one has 19 years left.
Cheers
Cammy
