Saw a trade stand in Lakeside for the new Mini, the build quality seems superb you can see BMW have got something to do with it..

The wife's after a new runaround, quite like the idea of a tarted up mini, anyone had any good or bad early experiences?

Not yet - going to soon

Ordered one for September/October delivery for the wife. She's driven it & is happy but that honestly doesn't say much

Had a good look around & impressed by the general quality & feel of the beast. Also, it appears to be very good VFM & residuals over the next couple of years are expected to remain high.

Will report when I've had a wee drive...

Driven one from Lind BMW in Kent, Red cooper, did 90 in 3rd, engine seemed tight though but only had 1000 miles on it, quite impressive but not very cheap though, a good spec cooper will cost you 14kish

i drove one on the launch day at victoria bmw in bromley, stunning build, drove the cooper in chilli spec, looks great, drives well, excellent steering, ride and a very slick gearchange, felt the chrysler engine let it down, seemed a bit gutless in the low rev range, not as much of a laugh to drive as say citroen saxo vtr/vts,but altogether a lovely little motor.evo and car magazine rate it very highly.

Top car - best fun hatch out there for sub-£15k, cracking VFM, build quality to shame the best and as funky as they come

Ordered a Cooper for my wife - but specc'd to almost £17k

Cool

Cool, I'm arranging for a test drive next week!
Easy to get carried away with the upgrades though, loads of bitz to add.

Cheerz all

The Cooper S sounds interesting, 160ish Bhp supercharged, early next year apparently priced at about 15k standard probably nearer 20k specced up!

Cooper S will be (according to BMW/Mini) less that £14k with 'chilli' pack as standard (sports seats, half leather, big alloys/all aesthetic bits/sports suspension etc etc). We would have waited, but with a release date still only given as 'spring 2002' couldn't wait
